Preview: Round 8 - Cadwell Park

This August bank holiday weekend (23-26 August), the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad team is looking forward to the eighth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, as the team heads just seven miles down the road to its home round at Cadwell Park.

Tucked away in the Lincolnshire countryside, Cadwell Park is a firm favourite with riders and fans alike. The 2.18-mile circuit is undulating, with many unique features including the famous Cadwell Mountain.

Not only is it a home round for Faye Ho’s squad, Cadwell is also Peter Hickman’s home round and a circuit where the local lad has previously enjoyed success aboard the BMW M 1000 RR.

So far this season it’s been a rocky ride for the FHO Racing team, who have endured mixed results with Hicky and teammate Josh Brookes struggling to make headway. Working hard to find solutions, the FHO team have found some improvements which has seen Josh and Peter move further up the pack in recent rounds. This weekend the team will be looking for solid results in front of a strong home crowd.

The weekends’ activities kick off this evening with an official BSB test taking place from 17.00 – 19.30. Click here for the full weekend racing schedule.

"Our results recently have certainly been up and down so we’re in a position where it's very difficult to predict what I think might be possible this weekend. Of course, we always try and focus on the positives, move forward, learn from the previous round and carry that into the next round; but Thruxton is a very different circuit compared to Cadwell so it’s very difficult to use that as a reference. This is an important round, as it’s the teams’ local round so there’s extra emphasis and slightly more pressure to do well. We start the weekend with a test, which will hopefully help us across the weekend, as we want to do well and give the FHO fans and sponsors what they’re looking for."

"Cadwell is my local and the teams’ local round, and it’s usually a good event for myself We’ve been slowly getting closer to the front in recent rounds and Cadwell has always been a really good round for me, so I can’t wait to get going. We have the test this evening, so I’m looking forward to getting out there and seeing where we end up. We were a lot closer at Thruxton and the team has been working really hard to give us what we need, and we have been making progress. We’ve got to keep making steps forward and start to edge closer to the front. I can’t wait to see all the fans around Cadwell this weekend as we get ready to party in the park!"
