Preview: Round 6 - Brands Hatch GP

This weekend the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad team with riders Josh Brookes and Peter Hickman head south as they prepare to do battle at Brands Hatch, as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship crosses the half-way point of the 2024 season.

Round 6 takes place in Kent at the 2.43-mile iconic Brands Hatch GP circuit and is a track where both Josh and Pete have previously celebrated wins; most recently in 2022 when Hicky was victorious aboard the FHO Racing BMW M 1000 RR.

Coming into this weekend Faye Ho’s squad is in good spirits following a strong last outing at Snetterton, which saw Josh break into the top ten standings after a string of vital point scoring finishes. Meanwhile, Peter concentrated on getting back in the groove and feeling comfortable again, which saw him finish in the points.

The weekend will also see the ABK Beer 0% BMW Motorrad UK F 900 R Cup back in action, where last weekend the series took place at the UK round of the WorldSBK Championship at Donington Park, where Jamie Hanks-Elliott enjoyed solid results across the two races.

First practice gets underway tomorrow (Friday 19 July) at 1pm, with qualifying and the first race of the weekend taking place on Saturday (20 July). Race 2 and Race 3 will take place on Sunday (21 July). Click here for the full weekend schedule.

“Brands has always been a top circuit that I've always looked forward to. I think some of our potential at Snetterton was done by the varying weather conditions, so we arrive with similar hopes of improvements from the package as we had it at Snetterton. We have to hope that the weather is more favourable this weekend so we can persevere with some changes, find the benefits and continue to move forward. Hopefully it's a combination of a good track for me, and some good changes in the direction we've been heading recently that's showing promise. I think if everything comes together we should have a more competitive package and be closer to where we know both myself and the BMW can be.”

“Brands Hatch has been a pretty good circuit in the past, not only for the BMW but also myself, I won here on a FHO Racing BMW back in 2022, when a lot of people had written me off then as well! At Snetterton we took some positive steps forward, I felt a lot better in myself and on the bike, and coming into this weekend I’m being realistic, but I want to make another step forward and look towards finishing somewhere where we should be. Let’s wait and see what the weekend brings, but I am coming into it with a very positive attitude and mindset, and I can’t wait to get going.”
