Preview - Round 5: Snetterton 300

The FHO Racing BMW Motorrad team has arrived at Snetterton ready for the fifth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, and following a short break between races after what has been a gruelling start to the season with back-to-back BSB rounds and the Isle of Man TT Races, the FHO crew, along with riders Josh Brookes and Peter Hickman are fresh-faced and ready for action this weekend.

At just under three miles long, the Norfolk circuit offers exciting, close racing and is a track that suits the BMW M 1000 RR Superbike machine, where at last years’ event Josh secured two second place finishes. In the final race of the weekend a win looked to be on the cards for Josh, but he was forced to retire due to an electrical issue.

After a mixed start to the season for the Australian, Josh will be looking to continue striving forward and making progress aboard the M 1000 RR across the weekend, while looking to make amends for last years’ disappointment.

Teammate ‘Hicky’ will be looking to put the disappointment from Knockhill behind him, and following a few weeks off, he’s refreshed and ready to start challenging again for point-scoring positions.

First practice gets underway today at 1pm, with qualifying and the first race of the weekend tomorrow (Saturday 6 July). Race 2 and Race 3 will take place on Sunday (7 July). Click here for the full weekend schedule.

"Snetterton is interesting; it’s the best event I feel we had last year and although we had some misfortune with the bike and had to retire whilst I was in the lead, putting that aside it was showing the most promise. The BMW was competitive, we were fighting for the win in all races, and it was a good weekend on several levels. So, I’m kind of excited to get back to Snetterton this year based on the performance of last year, we’ve also got some ideas from the last couple of rounds. The end of Donington was disappointing but for us as a team it was motivating as we saw some improvements with things we were trying, and the same for Knockhill – we were definitely showing signs of improvement, so we just have to remain positive all the time and keep moving forward. It’s easy to get disheartened with a long run of not really being in the results, or where we want to be, so we try and put that aside and focus on the good; as a team we’re finding improvements and I’m happy to continue with that progress."

"Last year at Snetterton the BMW showed great potential, Josh took two second-place finishes and had it not been for an unfortunate retirement in the last race he would have probably taken the win. Historically I’ve been fast at Snetterton, but at the minute things just haven’t seemed to go my way, but we arrive this weekend aiming to change that. We’ve had a couple of weeks off and we’re fresh-faced and ready to get started – let’s see what happens this weekend and hopefully it can be a good one for the FHO team."
