Preview: Round 4 - Knockhill

Fresh from the Isle of Man TT Races, the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad team is ready for action at Knockhill for the fourth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

For the teams’ riders Josh Brookes and Peter Hickman, the 1.27-mile Scottish track is a far cry from what they have been used to over the past two weeks, where at the TT Races they have been racing their BMW M 1000 RR Superbike (and Superstock) machines around the 37.73-mile Mountain Course.

Back to BSB duties, Faye Ho’s squad will be looking for a strong weekend in Scotland to reignite their 2024 campaign after a mixed start to the season.

First practice gets underway today at 1pm, with qualifying and the first 30-lap race of the weekend tomorrow (Saturday 15 June). Race 2 and Race 3 will take place on Sunday (16 June).

“We’re fresh out from the TT and heading back to work. It might be easy to assume that there's some connection between what we achieved at the TT and what will be possible at Knockhill, but it's like two different disciplines. It’s like cycling around a velodrome and then someone asking; ‘how is that going to help you on the BMX track?’ It's just so different that they don't compare, which might not be immediately obvious to anyone watching and following, so this weekend is more of a rewind and back to almost where we finished at Donington. We had a brake problem in the final race, where I fell, but until that point, we had made progress. The only setback is that Donington is a very different circuit and layout to what we are arriving to at Knockhill, so myself and the crew will be extending and progressing on from what we were trying to achieve last time out, but accommodating the changes of this circuit, where a lot of the corners are stop/start compared to the more flowing nature of Donington. So, it will be a case of roll the bike out in first practice, see how it compares and make adjustments accordingly.”

"This weekend will be a bit of a shock to the system coming from the longest track to the shortest! However, I actually really enjoy Knockhill it's one of the fun circuits to come to, but it's really difficult on a Superbike. However, it can be a really fun track and with everything that's been going on, I’m looking forward to getting back out there and having a strong weekend. This year’s BSB hasn’t really gone to plan so far; Oulton Park I was strong, and we were fast, but it didn’t go to plan and we didn’t move forward, then at Donington I had to withdraw from the event. I’m looking forward to the weekend, hopefully we can make a step forward, have a solid weekend and we’ll just wait to see where we end up.”
