THE FHO Racing squad is ready for the biggest and most exciting round on the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship calendar, as the series arrives at the team’s home track, Cadwell Park.
Back in its traditional August Bank Holiday weekend spot, Cadwell Park is located just a stone’s throw from FHO Racing’s Louth headquarters and proved to be the team’s most successful event in 2021.
Last year – in the team’s debut season – Peter Hickman was the class of the field, qualifying on the front row and scoring two wins and a second place.
After narrowly missing a podium at Thruxton a fortnight ago, Hickman and his BSB team-mate Ryan Vickers are hoping their BMW S 1000 RR machinery can help power them back onto the rostrum.
Meanwhile, FHO Racing with Kobelco riders Alex Olsen and Jack Nixon will be chasing success in the Superstock series. Olsen arrives at Cadwell Park fresh from a double win at Thruxton and wants to make it three in row, as reigning Junior Superstock champ Nixon looks forward to his first race weekend at the Lincolnshire track on 1000cc machinery.
Peter Hickman, Superbike:
“It goes without saying, but I’m really excited about mine and the team’s local round. We had an awesome Cadwell in 2021 – this year hasn’t gone our way so far but we have some new things to try this weekend which could really help.
“Thruxton was obviously very strong for us, we didn’t quite make the podium but at least we had some speed at last and we now want to continue that into Cadwell and beyond for the remainder of the year.
“I like Cadwell, it’s an incredible track and one of the best rounds on the calendar and I’m really looking forward to getting there – and of course meeting and hopefully being cheered on by all the local fans.”
Ryan Vickers, Superbike:
“I’m really, really looking forward to this weekend. Cadwell Park has always been a track I love, on every bike I’ve ridden there I’ve had a lap record and it’s been a strong circuit for me so hopefully I can keep that up.
“Pete has shown how well the BMW could go here last year and as we’re both quick here, hopefully we can both be running up the front and maybe sharing the podium.
“It won’t be easy, but hopefully with the team, the bike and my enjoyment of riding at Cadwell we can have a successful weekend and get both FHO bikes on the box. I’m really looking forward to it, let’s try and get some good points on the board and get the momentum going.”
Alex Olsen, Superstock:
“I really enjoy Cadwell, even though it took about 15 track days there last year to actually start going well! But no, I really enjoy going there now, even if it took me five years to start liking the place.
“Last year we got a second and I really enjoyed it and this year, hopefully we can pick up where we left off at Thruxton. In 2021 I got three wins in a row so I want four this year, starting this weekend.
“Our bike worked really well there last year and we come in off the back of a double win so all we can do is look to do more of the same. Let’s see how we go.”
Jack Nixon, Superstock:
“The last round was quite a tough one so I’m happy to moving to Cadwell, I have a much better feeling about this weekend – I think we can definitely get closer to the front where I know I should be.
“It’s one of those tracks which is very technical, there’s nowhere in the world like it, so there’s a lot of learning needs to be done! We’ve got Alex’s data from last year to reference and he got a second so fingers crossed we can make a good job of it.
“I know a lot of people come to Cadwell Park and it’s a really popular place and I think all riders enjoy it. Fingers crossed we can have a good weekend, keep working in a positive direction and get to where we need to be.”
Faye Ho, Team Principal:
“I can not begin to explain how excited me and my team are for our home round at Cadwell Park!
“Last year this was our most successful round by a mile, with Peter winning two and getting a second in the third race so we are coming in hoping for at least the same again.
“Ryan is just as keen as Peter to get a great round in here and of course, Alex is excited to get back out and try and make it three wins in a row – although Jack will be keen to stop him!
“This is definitely one of the most exciting rounds for the FHO Racing team and the local support we had from fans last year was just incredible. We hope we can have another good one this year and I know the whole team will be going all out to make this a round to remember.”
