FOUNDS AND WALMSLEY BREAK THE 120MPH BARRIER TO COME HOME ON THE PODIUM IN SECOND PLACE

FHO Racing’s sidecar duo Pete Founds and Jevan Walmsley broke the 120mph barrier in this morning’s second 3wheeling.Media Sidecar TT Race, as they stormed to their second podium finish of this year’s TT Races.

Making it two from two, finishing Saturday’s opening 3wheeling.Media Sidecar TT Race in second place, Founds and Walmsley came home today 09.147s behind race winners Ben and Tom Birchall.

With overcast skies all around the Mountain Course, the three-lap race got away on time at 11.45 and at Glen Helen the first time around, Founds and Walmsley were 2.8s adrift of the Birchalls.

At the end of the first lap, the gap to the front was 04.512 seconds, but the FHO-backed paring were holding strong having completed a 118.904mph lap. With the Birchalls edging ahead a 120mph lap was looking on the cards for Founds and Walmsley, who at the end of the second rotation clocked a 119.887mph lap.

Coming into the third and final lap a podium finish was looking certain for the FHO duo with the Birchalls over 13s ahead. Pushing hard across the 37.73 miles Founds and Walmsley crossed the line in second place breaking the 120mph barrier, joining only the Birchalls who first took the record in Saturday’s sidecar race.

Peter Founds:

“It’s been good to be able to push on a little bit harder in the second race, and get a bit more speed. The lads and the whole team worked really hard changing the engine, played around with the settings and humoured all the little things that I lumbered them with after the first race and they’ve really done a great job. Today’s race was great to be honest and to get the 120mph on the last lap was the icing on the cake for us. We made all the changes from Saturday’s race and we just pushed on as hard as we could, it didn’t feel that much faster than the first race to be honest, but people do say that when you’re going quick it doesn’t feel as fast! A huge thanks to FHO Racing for their support and I’m glad we were able to stand twice on the podium and get that 120mph lap.

Jevan Walmsley

“Today’s race was really good; I really enjoyed it – the final lap was a bit bumpy, but it was good fun. It’s a bit disappointing we didn’t manage to get the first place this week, but I’m mega happy we got the 120mph lap. Everyone has put a lot of work in after the first race, so to come away from this year’s TT with two second place finishes and breaking the 120mph barrier is great.”

Faye Ho – FHO Racing BMW Team Principal:

“I’m so happy for both Pete and Jevan, breaking the 120mph barrier today and joining just one other sidecar team in doing so is just fantastic. They have put the FHO Racing name on the sidecar podium twice this year and I’m really pleased they got the two second place finishes. Congratulations again to Pete, Jevan and their whole team for the results this week and breaking that 120mph barrier!”
