FHO Racing goes stateside for the Daytona 200 with Peter Hickman and Richard Cooper

Faye Ho is taking her motorsport brand FHO Racing stateside next month, sponsoring Peter Hickman and Richard Cooper as they challenge this year’s Daytona 200.

Riding for FHO Racing on the Roads and in the British Championship, Pete makes his debut at the Daytona 200 running his own PHR Performance team, with ‘Coopes’ returning to the event for the first time since 2008 as his teammate.

‘Hicky’ is no stranger to long race distances with his impressive achievements at the Isle of Man TT Races, where he holds 13 wins and the outright lap record. Pete has also raced in the FIM World Endurance Championship.

Richard joins Pete and PHR Performance for the event, and has enjoyed testing throughout winter in preparation for the race. ‘Coopes’ makes a return to Daytona, after his debut in 2008 where he finished fifth.

Held at the iconic Daytona International Raceway in Florida, the Daytona 200 is a 200-mile race, which was founded in 1937 and has been one of the toughest in American motorcycling because of its endurance-like qualities of pit stops for tyres and fuel, as well as safety car periods. The 82nd running of the Daytona 200 will take place from 7 – 9 March. With the main Daytona 200 race getting underway on Saturday 9 March at 1:10pm US time (+5hours GMT).

The event will be streamed live via MotoAmericaLive+ (for a cost), or once the race has taken place the full event will be uploaded to the MotoAmerica YouTube channel.

Peter Hickman:
“The Daytona 200 is an iconic event and one I have not only watched for many years, but it’s one I’ve always wanted to take part in, but never really had the chance to do. This has actually been about three years in the making trying to get it to happen and I’m so pleased we’ve been able to pull it all together and I can’t wait to get started.

I know the package we have; we’ve had a good winter testing along with Richard, and I believe we will be in a good position to achieve top results. I can’t wait to get out on track and experience Daytona for the first time.

A huge thanks to Faye [Ho] and the FHO Racing team for not only allowing me to bring my own team to the Daytona 200, but also supporting us – it’ll be nice taking the FHO name to America. Also thanks to Triumph Racing, Freedom Road Financial, Bathgate Group and Monster Energy; everyone has made a significant contribution to us being able to tackle this project and I can’t thank everyone enough.”

Faye Ho, Team Principal  – FHO Racing:
“I’m really happy to be supporting Pete and Richard at this year’s Daytona 200, it’s something very different compared to any racing we do in the UK. When Pete approached me about sponsoring the team, it was a no brainer and something I agreed to straight away. Not only does it mean that Pete gets the chance to race at the event, but I also get to take the FHO name to America. I want to wish Pete and Richard the very best for the race, I will be watching and hope they can bring in a good result for the PHR Performance team, FHO Racing and the UK.”
