FHO Racing is delighted to announce that Jamie Hanks-Elliott and Kate Walker will remain under the FHO Girls banner for the 2024 season, with both riders taking part in the BMW F 900 R Cup in the British Championship.
Kate enjoyed her debut year in the class this season, where her dedication and consistent progression impressed throughout the highly competitive BMW F 900 R Cup. Improving her lap times at each outing, Kate won the Rider of the Round award at Brands Hatch mid-season.
Joining Kate in the F 900 R Cup is Jamie who makes the step up from the Junior Supersport class into the F 900 R Cup after a solid year in 2023, which saw her collect a string of good results with numerous top ten finishes.
Committed to supporting females in motorsport, Team Principal Faye Ho runs the FHO Girls programme alongside the successful FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Superbike team. The programme is designed to start nurturing young female talent, providing them with a platform to start racing and improve gender diversity in motorcycle racing.
Faye Ho – Team Principal:
“Both Kate and Jamie have really impressed me with their attitude this season and I’m delighted that they are staying with the team. The idea for the FHO Girls is I want to give more opportunities to girls, females in racing, give them a good base platform where they feel they are supported and where they are being seen. A lot of these girls weren’t seen or even heard of while they were racing in British Superbikes or other categories, and I want people to take more notice of them and what they are doing. It’s still a bit of a male dominated sport and I think the more girls we have coming in and being in the forefront it will help change people’s perspectives.”
Jamie Hanks-Elliott:
“I had a really good season this year and made massive steps forward and enjoyed some good results. I’m super pleased to be staying with Faye and part of the FHO Girls, I’m looking forward to getting on the F 900, and feel that I will get on well with the bike as I have been putting the work in to make the transition to a faster bike a lot easier.”
Kate Walker:
“I think the 2023 season went well, we had a few minor mishaps but in every session at every round I improved my lap times, and at every round I moved further up the qualifying and finishers list. Considering at the start of the season the first aim was to just qualify for the main race, which I have smashed out of the park. I was in all the races bar the last one which I missed due to a crash. I also came away from the season having won rider of the meeting at Brands Hatch which was amazing and now I can’t wait to get back out on track representing FHO racing for 2024 in the BMW F 900 R Cup.”
Maria Costello MBE – Manager and Mentor:
“I’m really pleased both Kate and Jamie will be with the team next year. Kate really impressed everyone moving up from Thundersport to the British series in what turned out to be a highly competitive class. Her attitude to the class and drive to progress throughout the year was a joy to watch. For Jamie it’ll be a jump from what she’s used to in the Junior Supersport class, but she’s super keen to get out on a F 900 R and get started. It’s going to be an exciting season for both girls and we can’t wait to get started.”
