THE FHO Racing team is gearing-up to wheel-out the Gas Monkey Garage by FHO Racing BMW for the first time this afternoon as the 2022 Isle of Man TT gets underway.
Rider Peter Hickman will be coming out fighting in a bid to reclaim the coveted Senior TT trophy he last won in 2018 as he hits the iconic Mountain Course for the first time on the BMW M 1000 RR.
Hickman will ride the special edition Gas Monkey Garage-branded machine in this year’s Superbike, Superstock and Senior TT races after the squad secured an exciting partnership with the customised cars leader and star of Discovery Channel’s Fast N’ Loud series.
Meanwhile, former Irish Superbike champion Brian McCormack is also returning to the event, aboard the Roadhouse Macau by FHO Racing BMW.
Peter Hickman, Gas Monkey Garage by FHO Racing BMW:
“I can’t believe it’s finally here! We’ve been waiting for three years and like everyone else I’ve been really looking forward to coming back to the Isle of Man for what is without a doubt the biggest and best race in the world.
“After a few years away, it feels incredible to be back here on the island with the team and the bikes and I think everyone is raring to go. It’s going to be an amazing feeling just getting back on the Glencrutchery Road again.
“This time, we’ve got a different bike in the M 1000 RR but the early signs are that it’s fast and worked well at the North West 200 so we’re all confident that we can get off to a good start when we head out for the first time on Sunday afternoon.
“As always, we go in looking to build as we go. The old ‘steady away’ expression is as vital as ever, especially after three years out but everyone is in the same position. It’s the most excited I’ve been in three years and I’m so happy that it’s almost time.”
Brian McCormack, Roadhouse Macau by FHO Racing BMW:
“The TT is the greatest sporting event in the world and it’s always fantastic to be a part of it, but it’s even more so being part of the FHO squad and having Peter as my team-mate.
“I’ve always loved the TT, it is the only event that really counts and to be part of such a strong team is a big boost both on the road and mentally. We had a bit of a rehearsal at the North West but nothing can really prepare you for the TT. I’m looking forward to getting back out there after three years away and seeing what we can achieve over the fortnight.”
Faye Ho, Team Principal:
“As a long-time fan of the Isle of Man TT this is a very exciting time for me, running my own team and playing a big part in such a huge event. The Isle of Man TT is watched by fans all over the world who know just how exciting and demanding a spectacle it is and I am proud to be part of it.
“Running with a title sponsor is new territory for us but to have a brand as iconic as Gas Monkey Garage on board is simply incredible and the team will be doing everything in its power to deliver the best results we can.
“Peter and Brian are both raring to go, it’s been a very frustrating couple of years for all of us but particularly for them as riders but finally we are here. The riders are ready, the bikes look fantastic and now it’s time to go out and show everyone what FHO Racing can do.”
