THE FHO Racing team is gearing up for the final round of the 2022 season as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship concludes at Brands Hatch this weekend.
Superbike riders Peter Hickman and Ryan Vickers are aiming high and keen to end the year in style as they head to the iconic Kent circuit chasing podiums and race wins.
Although not part of The Showdown this year, Hickman is in contention for the Bennetts BSB Riders’ Cup title and will be going all-out to lift that at the end of Sunday afternoon, as Vickers also aims for what he hopes will be his strongest round of the season.
Over in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship, FHO Racing with Kobelco riders Alex Olsen and Jack Nixon are also raring to go. Olsen heads into the weekend chasing second in the championship while Nixon is looking for his best result yet to end the year well.
Peter Hickman, Superbike:
“I’m really looking forward to the last round. Brands Hatch is one of the best circuits in the country, the weather actually isn’t looking too cold so fingers crossed it stays that way – a bit of nice weather this weekend would be great.
“For myself I’ve got the Riders’ Cup to think about so I will be throwing everything I have at that. It’s not the Showdown but that’s the only thing we can push for this weekend along with race wins of course.
“I’m still to actually win a race this year which isn’t really good enough so we are going to be going in all guns blazing, ready to take it to everyone else and hopefully finish the year on a high.”
Ryan Vickers, Superbike:
“I’m excited about finishing the season off well at Brands Hatch. We’ve had a solid run of results the last couple of rounds and I’m looking forward to continuing that form.
“We didn’t have the best of rounds here earlier in the year but we were very fast and we had good race pace so I’m looking forward to hopefully making more progress with the bike.
“
With the loss of Chrissy [Rouse] it’s been an emotional week for many people and everyone in the paddock feels like they’ve had a big loss so it will be nice to pay our respects to him. I’ve a few things personally planned and I will be doing everything for Chrissy this weekend and hopefully getting some good results for him.”
Alex Olsen, Superstock:
“I can’t believe it’s the final round already, it seems like the last part of this season has flown by!
“Even though the championship is already decided, we’re still going to approach it as if it hasn’t been. It is still possible to get second overall and that’s very much where my focus is.
“It would be nice to get a final podium and even better the win for the team, my sponsors and everyone else. Who knows, it may be my final podium for FHO but whatever happens, I’m determined to have a good round and end the year with the very best result possible.”
Jack Nixon, Superstock:
“Brands Hatch is my home round and I get a lot of my sponsors, friends and family there which is always nice. I enjoy the track a lot and we were actually really fast there in the summer.
“Last time was a dramatic one where I ended up in the trees but this time we don’t want any of that! I’ve got a really positive feeling heading into the weekend, we know we can be fast and I really want a strong finish to the year.
“It’s been a bit of an up and down season, it’s been a bit tough for the most part but we want to make something of this weekend. I’m going to try my best, the team will be trying their best and giving 100 per cent so I’m looking forward to getting going.”
Faye Ho, Team Principal:
“It’s unbelievable to think that we are here, about to begin the final round of 2022 as our second season as FHO Racing draws to a close.
“I think everyone feels we perhaps could have had some better results across the year, but Brands Hatch gives us all one last opportunity to go for it, to push hard and end the year as well as we can.
“Naturally, it’s frustrating that we aren’t fighting for the overall title but Peter is determined to push for wins this weekend and if winning the Riders’ Cup is the very most we can achieve, then we will fight all the way to take it.
“Ryan is also very keen to get some good results here after a tough season at times and I know both Alex and Jack are ready to give it everything in Superstock. Taking the runner-up spot is Alex’s focus here and the whole team is ready for one last big push this weekend to ensure we end the year on a high.”
